I have always thought how great it would be to have a decent home gym, instead of commuting to the fitness center. Maybe now I can have a better home system because the company Ironmaster has produced the Quick-Lock Dumbell system. It’s one of the more advanced adjustable dumbells on the market, Ironmaster claims that you can adjust each dumbbell from 5 to 75lbs in less than 15 seconds. (there is also an add on kit to go up to 120lbs)
The Quick Lock system is designed to let you add or remove the plates with a turn of the screws. The screws lock the plate securely and tightly which make the whole dumbell feel like a traditional one piece dumbbell. I have owned different kinds of adjustable dumbbells and they all had the same issue of rattling, spinning, or loosening as I did each rep. Sometimes I would worry that the plate would loosen and fall on my face. But the Quick Lock seems to be a different story. From the videos on their site the Quick Lock plates look very secure and do not move. There is also clip of a guy dropping the dumbbell on the floor and they stayed intact.
Besides the secure fitting plates and adjusting speed, the system also would take up less space and would be perfect for a home gym. However, be prepared to shell out close to $500 for this system, perhaps a reasonable price to a very advanced set of dumbbells.
